Portrait Homes not only transformed our 1980’s oddly shaped home into a beautiful living space for my husband and I but also created an adorable suite for my Mom! The challenges during a remodel are definitely parallel to a box of chocolates because we certainly didn’t know what we were going to get when the walls were opened for demo but Jeff and Brooks were on top of it every step of the way. Thanks to Laura’s ability to understand my vision, the kitchen and dining room are absolutely stunning! This team is nothing but professional but the best part, in my humble opinion, is they all have a great sense of humor! This is a must during any type of remodel.

As an owner of one of their buildings, my family and I are beyond impressed with the quality, detail, craftsmanship, and overall execution of even the finest detail. We’ve heard on many occasions various compliments from friends and family, but on a recent visit by strangers looking to buy a vehicle we were selling, the visitors were more impressed by the residence and the construction detail than the car they came to buy.
More impressive still, and though our home has aged 10 years since Portrait Homes completed the house, builder Jeff Spang remains involved in guaranteeing that our satisfaction in ownership is maintained. I recommend Portrait Homes NW with my highest rating, 6 Stars if allowed.
We hired Jeff for a kitchen remodel and to update the front of our home. The kitchen was a complete redo from floor to ceiling, counters to appliances. The new entry included a new dormer on the second story roof creating a reading alcove on the second floor off of a two-level open entry way. The roof supporting columns and rock bases modernized the overall look of our home.
Jeff and the people he brought to our project were skilled, professional and diligent. The overall project was on time, on budget and fully within our high expectations of quality. The subcontractors were well supervised and kept on schedule. Working with Jeff was a pleasure since small adjustments to the project were incorporated without complaint.
We view this project as one of the best building experiences we have ever had. We are planning to go back to Portrait Homes when we consider building a new home. They have our highest rating and our thanks.

How many times do you hear from family or friends regarding their nightmare remodel, they were without a kitchen forever and were doing dishes in the bathtub, or eating out every night because they did not have a stove? I bet you hear that more often than not. Well, our experience was different. Jeff’s creativity with making sure that we had a working kitchen during the project was a priority. Jeff made sure that after the demolition, that the sink and dishwasher (which was set on a rolling cart) was functioning along with our stove. We had a functioning kitchen all but 3 or 4 days. Pretty amazing!
We selected Portrait Homes Northwest because of Jeff and Trina Spang’s reputation. Jeff is experienced, knowledgeable, honest, genuine, has attention to detail, creative and the list goes on and on. We appreciated that he was onsite every day. Jeff and Trina responded to text messages, phone call or emails almost immediately. We appreciated that they used local quality subcontractors. Jeff would leave every night from our house saying, “I appreciate the business.” This is the kind of honest and genuine man Jeff Spang is. This team was so grateful for the work.

Jeff and Trina are not only amazing at what they do, they are top notch members of our community! Prior to selling our home we contacted Portrait Homes NW for a kitchen remodel. The project came in on budget and was completed while we were on vacation in Mexico. Jeff sent pictures of the progress, dealt with a difficult down draft stove and we returned home to a spotless new kitchen! Portrait Homes gets a 10/10 from the Palins!
I purchased a new home constructed by Mr. Spang. The house is very well built and I have absolutely no complaints. The few items that inevitably need to be addressed as a new house settles were taken care of quickly and professionally by Mr. Spang. In addition, I have used him for other projects concerning the house and he has always done the work at a fair price and with outstanding results. He is a true professional who always does things the right way and I can recommend him with absolutely no reservations for whatever job he might be considered for.
Jeff Spang and Portrait Homes came to us highly recommended by a real estate attorney and his workmanship on a project to convert our guest cottage into a garage far exceeded our expectations. He handled all of the negotiations and permitting with Multnomah County in a very professional manner and his work on our garage was outstanding. He even made the subs redo some of their work when it was not up to his standard.
Portrait Homes was also the contractor on our son’s complete renovation of their mid-century modern home and they were so pleased with his work that they have hired him to do a complete remodel on the home they just purchased. He’s the best!

In 2011, we employed Jeff Spang with Portrait Homes as our contractor for a kitchen remodel which included new countertops, breakfast bar, backsplash, cabinet hardware, floor tile, removal of a kitchen island and a custom built pantry to match our existing cabinets. Unlike most contractors we have used in the past, Jeff was always on time and delivered on budget exactly what we were seeking. Jeff was always straight forward and friendly. In November 2010 my wife and I hired Jeff Spang of Portrait Homes Northwest to build our new garage. It was a fairly challenging project since the garage has a large upstairs bonus room and also required that Jeff build around an existing well head and pump system. Jeff Spang and Portrait Homes Northwest did an amazing job assessing and fixing a leak we had in our kitchen ceiling. Our main concern was living with a ceiling that had a “patch job”. When it was all said and done, we’re happy to say that you can’t even tell where the ceiling was fixed! Jeff Spang was the contractor for additions and alterations on a residence for which I prepared the architectural drawings and specifications. Both I and the client were well pleased with the completed work. I found him to be one of the few contractors I have worked with during my 35 years of professional experience whom I can unreservedly recommend…I found his pricing to be fair, his approach to the work thoughtful, reliable and skilled, as well as performing and completing the work on schedule and in a timely manner.
